Whilst I admire any transcriber that can transcribe a focus group, no matter how much knowledge you have in that specialised topic you cannot always identify each speaker in the focus group. Along with that, you can never hear when two or more people are talking, therefore you have no choice but to time-stamp it and mark ‘unclear’ or ‘inaudible’.
There is also no such thing as an error free transcript, no matter how much experience you have. Transcripts by a manual transcriber are only ever 98–99% accurate, it is impossible, especially in focus group transcription to produce error free transcripts. The only way to actually do that would be to converse with the participants afterwards and get the unclear areas of the transcript confirmed as to what was spoken.
